Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news outlet and a television host author, author and philanthropist. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family at age 16. In Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. As the first foreign student to hold the position of president of the highly regarded debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took on the role. Following graduation, she left her mark as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched an online voice portal which offered critical observations on the political scenario. Her popularity allowed her to persuade a number of stars to voice their views on current events, political and culture. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003, when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of an initiative in Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient automobiles. She was named one of the Most influential women in media according to Forbes in 2009, and was awarded the 12th place in that list. The same year, the Guardian included her in the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her president of the media group that also includes the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. She was very close with her father, but it was her bond with her mother who formed her. She showed leadership traits throughout her childhood. In her 16th year, she returned to the UK to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she was a member of the college debate Society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned a Master's Degree in Economics. Her professional career as a journalist and television host began after she graduated. Also, she appeared on the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books, utilizing editorial guidance from him.
